Seattle Concerts

Some notable music history has been made in Seattle:

Alternative Rock was brought to the mainstream (at least the grungy sound we all associated with alternative through the 1990's) by Washington group Nirvana and the infamous Kurt Cobain. Seattle continues to be a player in generations of rock music through concerts at historic venues.

Jazz music has a nearly 100 year history in Seattle with Lillian Smith's jazz band. Between 1937 and 1951, while Seattle was growing exponentially due to the defense industry boom, Seattle played host to over a dozen jazz clubs which served up top notch musicians and illegal booze as well. Because of local supression at the time, Seattle never really did become a major player in influencing jazz music as a whole.
